Hidden Bar-Lounge-Wine Storage-Custom Joinery-Lighting

PROJECT

Dayton

‍
‍Tucked away inside the home, this hidden bar was designed as a true escape: a private place to pour a drink, settle in and leave the rest of the house behind. The brief was luxe, dark and moody, with the feel of an intimate members' lounge rather than just another room in the home.

‍We wrapped the space in deep olive walls with traditional panel mouldings and a textured, recessed ceiling, so the room feels enveloping and quietly dramatic from the moment you step inside. Warm, low lighting picks out the details and keeps the mood rich and relaxed.

The bar itself is the centrepiece. Custom dark timber joinery frames a backlit stone splashback, with open shelving for glassware and display, mesh-fronted cabinets and twin wine fridges built in below. Concealed LED strips wash light across the stone so it glows against the darker surrounds.
Opposite the bar, a curved, channel-tufted banquette in deep green upholstery creates a cosy lounge corner, perfect for long conversations over a glass of red. Along the window, a slim stone ledge with brass-toned stools offers a spot to perch and take in the garden view.

Finishing touches like brass wall sconces, a grandfather clock and framed collector's pieces give the room its character. The result is a space that feels personal, indulgent and just a little bit secret.
